Monday, September 28 - Split/Trogir & Sikuli Winery

Today we visit the town or Trogir and the Sikuli Winery.

Trogir, a small island town, just 1 hour away from Split was founded by the ancient Greek settlers in the 3rd century BC. For centuries, Trogir was a place where numerous artists left their mark, so we can truly say though it may be a small city, it definitely packs a lot of art and history. Admire the Romanesque and Renaissance architecture, and visit landmarks like the Cathedral of St. Lawrence renowned for its stunning Romanesque door, carved by 13th-century sculptor Radovan, the Loggia, Clock Tower, and Rector's Palace, and then continue toward the waterfront, admiring 11th-century St. Barbara’s Church and St. Dominic’s Convent. Finally, find out more about the battlements of the Venetian-built Camerlengo Fortress and pause at Marmont’s Gloriette, a Napoleonic-era monument, as you wander to nearby St. Mark’s Tower.

After the tour, visit local Kastel Sikuli Winery and enjoy local produced wines with a light lunch.

Wednesday, September 30 - Split to Dubrovnik with a stop in Ston

This morning after breakfast and check out, we'll head to Dubrovnik for our last two nights.

On the way, we'll explore the Peljesac Peninsula and the town of Ston. In the times of the Dubrovnik Republic, Ston was the second most important town after its more famous neighbor Dubrovnik. Its wealth was derived from salt production, and the traditional production remains intact to this day. Although this charming medieval town is renowned for the spectacular city walls that are considered to be the second-longest in the world, this region is also known as the Oyster capital of Croatia thanks to the distinctive blend of nutrients in the local waters.

You can enjoy a walk along the famous walls and enjoy the town, then continue straight towards the oyster farm where you will join your hosts for a scenic boat ride among the oyster beds to find out how oysters are cultivated.

After learning about the meticulous oyster farming process, you will return to shore and indulge in the oysters that have been freshly harvested for you along with local mussels cooked in wine, homemade rakija (a traditional fruit brandy), a glass of local wine, all in a peaceful seaside location.

After the oyster tasting, you will continue your drive to your hotel in Dubrovnik.

Thursday, October 1 - Dubrovnik

Today we'll enjoy a Walking Tour of the Old Town of Dubrovnik. This tour is a real treat for those who want to see beyond the obvious and explore the architecture and history of Dubrovnik and the golden age of the Dubrovnik Republic.

Your discovery begins as you enter the Old Town accompanied by your licensed guide through the Pile or Ploce Gate (two main entrances to the Old city). As you make your way through the pedestrian center and the famous Stradun street, you will visit the Church of Holy Salvation, a grandiose Franciscan and Dominican church, crown jewels of Dubrovnik, Knezev Dvor, the Rector’s Palace, Old port, vibrant town squares, monuments, and fountains. You will also pass by the Franciscan Monastery, which houses a museum with an excellent art collection and a famous pharmacy, took a century to build and was almost destroyed in the tragic earthquake of 1667.

City walls around the Old city are an optional part of the tour - guides do not go up, but if you wish to embark on an exploration of the monumental walls, it is a worthwhile experience and a pleasant 2-hour walk. Water and SPF are recommended, especially during the summer months, and if you would like to add the walk along the walls or extend the tour with a visit to the Franciscan Pharmacy, advise us in advance so we can preorder your tickets.

After the tour, you can choose to stay in the Old Town on your own and make your own way back to the hotel, or you can return to the hotel to enjoy your last day on this beautiful property.

We will gather in the evening for our Farewell Dinner.
