The 4 E’s of Travel Planning
When planning your vacation, there are so many things to consider that it can become overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to help! We’ve broken the planning process into four segments of consideration. This is to help you think about what’s important to you and possibly narrow down the choices.
1) EXPERIENCE – What type of experience are you looking for? Vacation means many different things and the definition changes as your life changes. Do you need relaxation, a time to get away from it all? Do you want to hike and bike, or zipline or kite surf? Do you want to eat amazing new foods? First thing to write down is what type of experience you’re looking to have which will help choose the destination.
2) EASE –How do you want to travel? Staying in one place or city and planning day trips can be more relaxing than staying in multiple cities, but it also limits you geographically. Are you comfortable with bus tours or would you rather use public transportation like the train to get from city to city? How comfortable you are with traveling abroad will help to determine whether you’d like a guided tour where everything is pre-arranged for you or an independent tour where you get yourself from place to place.
3) EVENT – Consider planning your vacation around a special event. That could mean the celebration of an anniversary or big birthday or achieving a goal, OR it could mean wanting to be somewhere for a particular event. One of the World Cup soccer games, the Grand Prix in Monaco or a concert weekend in a particular city are just a few examples. That helps to set the date parameters of your vacation.
4) EDUCATION – Is there something that you’ve always wanted to learn more about firsthand? How do the French prepare those amazing meals or when does the harvest take place in Tuscany? How many castles are there still in England? Whatever you are interested in learning, traveling to the origins is a great way to garner more information. Knowing what you’d like to learn on vacation can be a great way to determine what tours or excursions you’d like to have included in your trip.
