Danube River Cruise - Bucharest to Budapest
April 22 - May 6, 2021
April 22 - Overnight flight from JFK to Bucharest.
Tonight, we'll have a special Welcome Dinner just for our group. (D)
April 24 - Today we head into the Carpathian Mountains for a visit to the town of Sinaia and the Peles Castle. This ornate castle has been used as a movie set and its beauty is second only to the area where it was built.
We continue on to the town of Brasov where we'll enjoy dinner together and spend the next two nights at the Kronwell Brasov Hotel. (B, D)
April 25 - After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Brasov, followed by free time to explore the city at leisure.
This evening you'll be enchanted with a tour of Bran Castle of Dracula lore, followed by dinner. (B, D)
April 26 - This morning after breakfast we'll head back to Bucharest to enjoy a walking city tour to see the highlights of Bucharest.
In the afternoon we'll head to Cernavoda where our ship is docked and we'll board the ship to enjoy our cruise and dinner onboard. (B, D)
April 27 – Today we'll be in St. Gheorghe where we'll be exploring the Danube Delta.
In the afternoon we'll be cruising to Hârsova. (B, L, D)
April 28 – This morning we can join a tour to Constanta, the commercial center of Romania. You can also visit the Natural History and Archaelogical Museum to discover the early history of Romania's culture.
This afternoon we'll start cruising to Rousse, Bulgaria. (B, L, D)
April 29 – This morning you can join a guided tour of Bulgaria's "Little Vienna", Rousse, which is the largest inland port in the country. You will then enjoy sailing down to Svistov.
OR you could enjoy a full day guided tour to the Buglarian capital of Veliko Tarnovo and the 15th century town of Arbanassi. You'll rejoin the ship in Svistov. (B, L, D)
May 1 – This morning we'll head through the narrow Iron Gates Gorge which separates Serbia from Romania.
You may want to join a guided tour to Lepenski Vir, a Mesolithic archaeological site showing any ancient culture and artifacts. You'll also get a great view of the Danube Gorge.
In the afternoon we'll start cruising to Belgrade. (B, L, D)
May 2 – Today you can choose a guided tour of the city of Belgrade where the Danube converges with the Sava River.
You may also choose an Optional Biking Tour or just spend a free morning exploring Belgrade. (B, L, D)
May 3 – This morning enjoy a walking tour of Novi Sad the second largest town in Serbia. Admire its Austro-Hungarian old town with its baroque buildings and ancient fortifications.
This afternoon you'll enjoy a short cruise to Ilok, Croatia while having lunch onboard.
In Ilok you can enjoy a guided tour of the town with its 1000 year old winemaking tradition which is still thriving and its medieval fortress protected for its Croatian cultural heritage. (B, L, D)
May 4 – We will be docked this morning in Mohacs, Hungary. You may enjoy a guided tour of nearby Pecs to visit the 4th century Christian underground tombs and see the murals there. You will also enjoy an organ concert. (B, L, D)
May 5 - This morning we will arrive in Budapest and after breakfast you can enjoy a guided tour of the city.
You'll have the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the city on your own and spend the night at the Intercontinental Budapest . (B)
May 6 - Today after breakfast you'll be transferred to the airport for your flight home. (B)
